The accommodation consists of a large lounge with armchairs, to one side of lounge is a good sized kitchen with mini-cooker , fridge, and all utensils. To the other side is the bedroom with double-bed, wardrobe, and dressing table. Beyond this is a shower-room, with shower, toilet and washbasin. All furniture and appliances are nearly new. Outside is a patio area with seating and a planted border with 35ft Grape Vine and various flowering shrubs. There is a lively Taverna in the village where the tradition of serving an assortment of "meze" - about six small dishes of local delicacies - accompanies your drink order free of charge. There is also a shop with fresh bread daily and all basic essentials. Superb uncrowded beaches are near at hand - the swimming and snorkelling being excellent in crystal clear water ( all with Blue Flag status ). The Town of Ierapetra has many very good shops, restaurants, and nightlife if you wish. This is what some people refer to as "The Real Crete", the scenery is magnificent, the people are charming and welcoming, and the food is good. At the Sea Gem Apartment you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a Village in Crete - and yet be close to every excitement and activity associated with life in the Sun ! Out of Summer season there are the famous Spring Flowers to enjoy, or in Autumn the hill walking for which the Island is also famous. There are nearby gorges to explore, off-lying islands to visit, or just the chance to chill-out on the best beaches in Crete. During the Tourist Season there are any number of reasonable Charter Flights from UK available to Heraklion Airport. Although direct flights from the UK are not currently available during winter months, there are daily ferries and air connections with Athens. Please note that a recent survey pinpointed a spot some 8 kilometres to the east of the village, as having the mildest climate in the whole of Europe ! With few Tourists, it is also a good time to soak up the true atmosphere of Crete, - the Raki making, the Orange and Olive harvests, the Christmas and Easter celebrations, and the radiant early Spring Flowers.
